Questions to Buddy – Roxane

Roxane has roots in Tahiti, knows where to find the most delicious cookies in Amsterdam and carries a big backpack with her. Filled with a lot of life lessons and the necessary professional experience.

How do you recognize a good coach?
There is always room behind someone’s question. The trick is to take that question as a starting point and then look behind that question for what is really needed. If you find that, you can really help someone open their eyes. That’s the best thing, to hear someone say: ‘Wow, I’ve never looked at it that way!’

How do you achieve that?

I can draw on a good dose of life experience and evidence-based methodologies. My professional background is in homeless care, addiction care and psychiatry. In addition, I have had to deal with a lot of cultural and trauma-sensitive problems. Finally, I also have some expertise in bereavement. So I have a pretty broad background from which I can draw to deliver tailor-made solutions. All the experiences and skills I have in my backpack reinforce each other.

“The trick is to look for what is really needed behind someone’s question.”

What defines you as a coach?

My specialization at Buddy is work-life balance and personal development. By nature, I am someone who is honest and accessible. I have an open, decisive and personal approach. Without judging, I try to help you get a grip on your life again. To take control. I hope to be used mainly preventively to reduce absenteeism and increase happiness at work.

How do you do that, increase happiness at work?

The most important element of happiness at work is simple: you have to do what you like. Your work as a supplement to your private life. To test your happiness at work, you can ask yourself: is my work an addition or am I missing something?

What is the strength of Buddy?

I like the pragmatic. That down-to-earth approach, but in combination with proven quality. Due to the proliferation of untrained coaches, it is important to make it clear that you don’t just do anything. There is knowledge of psychology behind it. We really want to help people. And then it is sometimes necessary to refer someone. To do this, you have to be able to recognize complex, underlying problems. That is also another characteristic of a good coach: he knows when someone else is needed.
